The story of Urbanstance since 2024 · slow made
Objects forged at the intersection of earth, ether, and intention. We build vessels for ritual, not just decoration.

Where kiln meets spirit

Urbanstance was born from a quiet rebellion against mass production — a return to tactile, soulful craftsmanship.

Founded in the Hudson Valley by ceramicist Wren Salter and alchemist Elara Voss, our studio began as a shared fire: a wood‑kiln in a repurched barn, surrounded by wild mint and clay beds. We believed that objects used daily — a candle holder, an incense tray, a pourer for oils — should carry the memory of human hands.

Today, we collaborate with independent potters, botanical distillers, and metalworkers across three continents. Each piece is either made in‑house or sourced from small ateliers that share our ethos: fair wages, low‑waste production, and raw beauty over polish.

Our three living pillars

Radical slowness

We never rush a firing or a tincture. Small batches, seasonal launches, and a deep respect for natural curing times.

Earth consciousness

Plastic‑free shipping, reclaimed wood packaging, and wild‑foraged botanicals. Our kiln runs on clean energy.

Radical transparency

Every maker’s name, every material origin. We publish our supply chain and donate 2% of profits to land back initiatives.

The keepers of the kiln

A small, multidisciplinary crew of ceramicists, herbalists, and storytellers.

We don’t design for trends — we craft for altars, morning rituals, and the quiet corners of a home.
